What is teletherapy?
Teletherapy, also known as online therapy, e-therapy, or video therapy, is therapy delivered through a virtual platform via a computer, smart phone or tablet.
How Do Online Therapy Sessions Work?
Teletherapy sessions work the same way as traditional therapy sessions, however instead of meeting your provider at his/her office location, both parties will meet virtually via a HIPAA compliant video platform.
Is Teletherapy as Effective as Face to Face Therapy?
Similarly to in-person therapy, the effectiveness of teletherapy depends on the individual(s), their reasons for seeking therapy, and their commitment to engage and practice the skills and recommendations taught and assigned in sessions. Overall, research has concluded that teletherapy is just as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy. (Wagner, Horn and Maercker, 2013)
